AviConnectPrivacy Policy
This explains what AviConnect collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. We don’t sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps.
What we collect
Account: your email address and password (stored securely by our database provider; we never see your password).
Profile: your name, username, profile photo, home airport, bio, certificates and ratings and aircraft — whatever you choose to add.
Location: only when you check in. Your phone’s position is sent to check that you’re really at the airport and is saved with the check-in. Other pilots see which airport and when, never your exact position. The map also uses your location on your phone to show where you are; that isn’t saved.
Activity: check-ins, stamps, patches and XP; connections and requests; messages; pilots you block; and reports you send.
Notifications: if you allow them, a push address for your phone so we can tell you about new messages and connection requests.
Verification (optional): if you ask to be verified, your legal name, the certificates you hold (pilot, instructor, mechanic, repairman, dispatcher, remote pilot, flight attendant, IA), a photo of your certificates and a selfie holding one. Only the AviConnect review team can see the photos. We compare them with the FAA’s public Airmen Registry (inspection authorizations aren’t in it, so we check those from the photo only) and delete the photos as soon as we’ve made a decision. We keep your legal name, what we confirmed and the decision, so we know you’ve been verified. We never ask for your certificate number. While you’re verified, we compare your legal name and certificates with the FAA’s public airmen file about once a month (and may keep the FAA’s record number for you) to check they’re still valid.
Who can see it
Other signed-in pilots can see your profile, check-ins (airport and time), stamps, patches and XP. Your email address is never shown.
If you’re verified, everyone sees the verified check mark, and the certificates we confirmed and the month we verified you (on a private account, only your connections see those). Your legal name stays private. Badges last 24 months, then you can renew with new photos.
Messages are visible only to you and the other pilot, except that we may review reported messages to keep the community safe.
Your connections can message you. Verified pilots you aren’t connected with can send you a message request, which you can accept or decline; you can turn this off in Settings (it starts off for private accounts).
If you block someone, they can no longer see your profile or contact you.
Services we use
Supabase stores the app’s data and handles sign-in. Expo, Apple and Google deliver push notifications (they receive the notification text). Maps are shown by Apple Maps or Google Maps. These companies process data only to provide their service to us.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your account, profile, photo, check-ins, patches, connections, messages and notification settings right away. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days.
To keep the community safe, reports that involve you are kept (with the username at the time), but they’re no longer linked to an account.
You can also edit or remove most profile details at any time in Edit profile.
Children
AviConnect isn’t for children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we’ll delete it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in an important way, we’ll ask you to review it in the app.
